We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant to support students with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges, as well as students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. The role involves working closely with students who may demonstrate challenging behaviour, communication difficulties, and dysregulated emotions, helping them overcome barriers to education and re-engage with learning.
This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with both SEMH and PMLD by providing vital support that encourages their emotional, social, and educational development. You’ll be a part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment for all students, regardless of the challenges they face.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist class teachers in developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans and Personal Care Plans for students with PMLD and complex social needs.
  • Provide tailored emotional, behavioural, and practical support to students with PMLD, ensuring their specific learning, physical, and sensory needs are met.
  • Support students with complex social needs, addressing any social, behavioural, or communication challenges they may face.
  • Motivate and support students in re-engaging with education, including those with communication difficulties or non-verbal students.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to identify and address barriers to education, using therapy, sensory interventions, and assertive technology as needed.
  • Provide practical emotional and educational support that promotes self-confidence and a motivation to learn, while also helping students develop social and communication skills.
  • Remain calm in challenging situations while ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Implement effective strategies to help students regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour in a positive and constructive way.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people, particularly those with PMLD, complex social needs, or learning disabilities, in a support or mentor capacity is desired. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, coordinating with therapists, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.
  • An Enhanced DBS check.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training.
Pay: £90-99.00 per day PAYE & Holiday Pay.
