Are you a caring and committed support worker with a passion for helping young children thrive? We are seeking a skilled KS1 Behavioural Support Assistant to join our dedicated team at an SEN school in Slough. In this role, you will work with students in Key Stage 1 who are facing complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in helping our youngest learners overcome challenges and fully engage in their education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with KS1 students to provide tailored one-on-one and group support, ensuring they feel understood and encouraged.
  • Foster positive behaviour and emotional regulation by using evidence-based techniques and positive reinforcement, particularly for children who may struggle with managing emotions and displaying challenging behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to identify and remove barriers to learning. Develop and implement creative strategies to maintain a nurturing and positive learning environment.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with KS1 students, boosting their self-confidence and motivation to learn. Engage with children on a personal level to help them overcome specific emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Stay calm and supportive in stressful situations, ensuring a safe and structured environment for all students. Implement crisis management and intervention strategies as required.
  • Assist young learners in managing their emotions through evidence-based approaches, promoting a healthy and positive emotional development during these critical early years.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with young children, ideally in a support, mentor, or teaching assistant role. Experience with SEMH needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with young children, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to foster a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory. A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn is essential.
  • An enhanced DBS check and current safeguarding training are required to work with children.
Pay: £90-99.00 per day PAYE & Holiday Pay.
