Are you a compassionate and dedicated support worker with a passion for working with children and young people? We are seeking a committed SEN Support Assistant to join our team at a local specialist school in Slough. The school is passionate about creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that breaks down barriers and promotes growth for all students.
In this role, you will work with students facing complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, as well as those with moderate to severe learning difficulties, Autism, and Speech and Language needs. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with teachers and support staff to assist students in overcoming barriers to learning, while addressing their educational, social, and emotional needs. Your efforts will play a vital role in helping students re-engage with education and providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support to students that follows their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and or Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs).
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored lessons, activities and interventions.
  • Motivate students to engage in their education who may demonstrate challenging behaviour and dysregulated emotions.
  • Observe, Identify and address barriers to education with teachers and therapists
  • Foster safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student well-being and learning.
  • Assist with personal care as needed.
  • Provide practical emotional and educational support that promotes self-confidence and a motivation to learn.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children and/or adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is preferred but not required.
  • A good knowledge on strategies to support children with special educational needs such as Autism, MDL and Speech and language difficulties.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare and/or social support are desired but not required.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Up to date safeguarding training.
Pay: £95.00 per day PAYE & Holiday Pay.
