Are you passionate about supporting young people with challenging behaviour and helping them thrive in an educational setting? We are looking for a dedicated and patient KS3 Behavioural Support Assistant to join a forward-thinking SEN school in Maidenhead. In this role, you’ll work closely with students in Key Stage 3 (KS3) who may have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, ADHD, or other complex behavioural challenges. Your support will help create a structured and positive environment where students can succeed both emotionally and academically.
We offer competitive pay between £90-£99 per day, paid directly on a PAYE basis (no umbrella companies). This full-time role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. You’ll benefit from ongoing training and development, including behaviour management techniques, and the chance to work in a school that values a nurturing and inclusive approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to KS3 students with behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Help manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management techniques.
  • Support the development of students' social and emotional skills, helping them to regulate their emotions and engage positively with peers.
  • Assist in creating individual behaviour plans (IBPs) and implementing them effectively in the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to monitor progress and adjust support as needed.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, helping them feel safe and understood in the school environment.
  • Provide practical and emotional support in moments of crisis, using de-escalation strategies when necessary.
  • Contribute to maintaining a calm, structured learning environment, ensuring all students feel included and supported.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous experience working with children with challenging behaviour, particularly in a KS3 setting.
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and engage positively with students who may exhibit disruptive or difficult behaviour.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and an understanding of SEMH needs.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a wider support team.
  • Ideally, a Behaviour Support or Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3) or relevant experience in a similar role.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
