Are you passionate about supporting children with complex needs? We are looking for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in High Wycombe. This role will involve working with children who have a wide range of needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, sensory and communication difficulties.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to pupils, helping them to achieve personal and academic milestones. You will be part of a collaborative team that focuses on creating a safe and engaging environment where students can thrive and develop key life skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex and multiple needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting and feeding, where needed (training provided).
  • Use communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices to support non-verbal pupils.
  • Support pupils with sensory needs and help manage behaviour, using appropriate techniques for children with autism and sensory processing issues.
  • Assist pupils with physical disabilities, helping with mobility, transfers, and use of specialised equipment.
  • Work with teachers and therapists to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each child.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working with children with additional needs.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting children with complex needs.
  • Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods (desirable but not essential).
  • Willingness to assist with personal care tasks and provide support for children with physical disabilities.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, working closely with teachers, support staff, and health professionals.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • A desire for ongoing learning and development, with training provided.
At Supply Hive, we believe in fair pay and ethical recruitment practices, offering £90-£99 per day on a PAYE basis with no umbrella companies involved. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow professionally while making a real impact in the lives of children with complex needs. You'll work in a supportive and enriching environment where both staff and students are valued.

If you’re passionate about working with children with special educational needs and think this role could be the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you!
