This role involves working with students who have challenging and complex Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. The successful candidate will then work as part of a multidisciplinary team in order to help students overcome the barrier to learning and re-engage with education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist class teachers in developing and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) to re-engage students in their learning.
- Motivate students to engage in their education who may demonstrate challenging behaviour and dysregulated emotions.
- Observe, Identify and address barriers to education with teachers and therapists.
- Provide practical emotional and educational support that promotes self-confidence and a motivation to learn.
- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations while also maintaining a safe environment for all students.
- Make use of strategies to manage and support learners in regulating their emotions in a positive and constructive manner.
- Relevant experience working with vulnerable young people in a support/mentor capacity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work well in a team.
- Relevant qualifications are desired but not required.
- An enhanced DBS check
- Up to date safeguarding training.
