Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Excellence: Lead the English department in creating engaging, challenging, and diverse schemes of work that align with the national curriculum and set high standards for teaching and learning.
  • Inspire & Mentor – Support and develop the teaching team, ensuring high-quality instruction, collaborative planning, and professional growth through CPD.
  • Student Engagement & Achievement – Monitor student progress across year groups, use data to inform teaching practices, and develop strategies to ensure students are meeting and exceeding their targets.
  • Innovative Assessment & Feedback – Implement forward-thinking assessment strategies, ensuring meaningful feedback and measurable progress for all students.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience & Qualifications: QTS with a background in English, along with a proven track record of success in secondary teaching and prior experience in a leadership role.
  • Leadership & Vision: Strong leadership skills, an innovative approach, and a genuine passion for fostering a love of English literature and language.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrated ability to raise standards and deliver outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire students, staff, and the wider school community.
