Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging sports and physical education sessions tailored to the needs of children with SEMH and ASD.
- Assist class teachers in developing and implementing sports programs tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each child.
- Use sports and physical activities to help students develop social skills, build self-esteem, and manage their emotions.
- Foster students' personal, social, and educational development through creative expression, collaboration, and self-esteem building activities.
- Create an inclusive and encouraging environment where students feel inspired and appreciated.
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to create and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) that include physical activity goals.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students who need extra help.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment where students can explore their creativity and build resilience.
- Organise and lead extracurricular sports clubs, competitions, and events.
- Maintain equipment and ensure a safe physical environment.
- Engage with parents and carers, providing updates on their children's progress and encouraging participation in physical activities at home.
- Promote a culture of health, fitness, and well-being within the school community.
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs in a sports or educational setting.
- Knowledge of child development and the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A valid and enhanced DBS check.
- Up-to-date safeguarding training.
