We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Reading. This role is specifically focused on providing tailored support to a child with special educational needs (SEN) within a mainstream classroom setting. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping the student access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalised support to a specific student, ensuring they can fully engage in classroom activities and learning.
  • Implement strategies and interventions as outlined in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt support as needed.
  • Assist with the development of social skills, independence, and self-regulation.
  • Support the student in developing a positive attitude towards learning and school life.
  • Help with differentiated tasks and activities, ensuring the student’s specific needs are met.
  • Maintain open communication with the teaching staff and the student’s parents/carers to ensure consistency and effectiveness of support.
  • Attend relevant training sessions to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in SEN support.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 setting, is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of various SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build a trusting relationship with the student.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • An ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in the classroom.
