Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both teachers and students within the classroom. You’ll assist in creating a positive and engaging learning environment, working closely with teachers to ensure that all students, including those with special educational needs, receive the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management, and maintaining an organised learning environment.
- Work with small groups or individual students to support their learning, particularly focusing on literacy, numeracy, and any areas of difficulty.
- Provide one-to-one support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive interactions among students.
- Support the social and emotional development of pupils, promoting confidence, self-esteem, and a love for learning.
- Assist in monitoring students’ progress and reporting any concerns to the class teacher.
- Provide support during school trips, assemblies, and other school activities.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a primary school setting.
- A positive attitude and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team, showing initiative when required.
- An understanding of child development and how children learn.
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs is a plus.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to complete one).
