Are you enthusiastic about supporting young learners and keen to make a real difference in a child’s early education? We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a Year 1 pupil in one of our partner schools in Central Reading. The role is temporary but has a lot of potential to go permanent.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to a Year 1 pupil, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning activities.
  • Assist with individualised learning plans, adapting materials and lessons to suit the pupil’s needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies that promote the pupil’s academic and personal development.
  • Support the child’s emotional and social well-being, ensuring they feel included and valued within the classroom.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, using positive reinforcement to encourage focus and engagement.
  • Provide feedback to teachers, parents, and other staff members on the pupil’s progress and areas for further support.
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, and any specific care or learning requirements the pupil may have.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with young children, ideally in a 1:1 setting, is preferred.
  • A good understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly in early years or Key Stage 1.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting individual learning needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with the child, teachers, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Benefits:
  • Gain specialised experience in SEN support.
  • Be part of a nurturing and inclusive school community.
  • Opportunities for professional development in 1:1 and SEN support roles.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on a child's early educational journey.
